True Local/Intra-Country Dialing FAQ's

What Intra-country dialing is?

This refers to phone calls that go through an international trunk or server and get returned to the country where the caller's number originates from. In this case, it doesn't matter where the caller is physically located. What is important is the country of origin of the caller's number and the destination number of the called party. This category includes both direct dialing calls made by users and calls forwarded to external numbers within the same country.

For example using a Brazil number as a CLI when originating calls to Brazil, or forwarding a Brazil Toll Free to a Brazil fixed or landline external number.

AVOXI True Local products are verified with our in-country vendors so that even when making intra-country calls, clients are able to connect via direct dialing or forwarding to external numbers.

What is a  2-Way-Voice or AVOXI True Local number?

A True Local number is verified with our Suppliers and guarantees that the correct CLI (calling line identification) will be delivered to the terminating destination on outbound calls.

The way that our carriers are doing verification now is through a 2-Way-Voice number, which we do offer and we call "TrueLocal numbers". With a TrueLocal number, CLI presentation is almost guaranteed to display properly, 2 way voice is established, and the people being reached will be able to call back if need be.

What are the results of Intra-Country Dialing without an AVOXI True Local number?

Due to new regulations almost all countries will block calls from unverified numbers that involve intra-country dialing to combat SPAM/Fraud.

What happens with CLI on an unverified number that is involved with an Intra-country call?

CLI (calling line identification) is passed from carrier to carrier when a call is transmitted. Unfortunately, carriers and regulatory bodies vary in their preferred formatting, and calls may transit several networks before reaching their destination. The CLI information may be altered, distorted, or lost along the way.

What CLI is and what it is not?

- CLI means that the called party will see the phone number of the caller, displayed on their end. CLI information is passed along the call route through various headers in the SIP INVITE(s).

- CLI is not the same as, CNAM, or Canonical Name record is a type of

resource record that assigns a 15 character alphanumeric value to a phone number.

- CLI is also not SPAM/”Scam likely” labeling, and CLI delivery does not prevent the labeling of a number.

SPAM/”Scam likely” labeling is coming from the receiving Carrier, and is typically assigned by them based on the following calling behaviors:

1.) Call recipients manually label a call as SPAM (difficult to control as one caller can report this to their Carrier, and it result in SPAM Labeling)

2.) Inconsistent call volume from a given phone number

3.) A high number of short calls, i.e., just a few seconds long

4.) Large spikes in call volume, such as suddenly making 100 calls within an hour from just one number

5.) A large portion of calls go straight to voicemail

6.) Dialing the same number multiple times consecutively, or too many times on the same day

If your number is labeled as SPAM/”Scam likely” you will need to address this with the receiving Carrier. We cannot submit a request on your behalf as they will more than likely reject it.
